Academic, Freshman College or University Studies
Annually, the Rotary Club of Austin offers a number of scholarships to graduating Austin area high school seniors. Last year, the Club provided 13 scholarships, with the minimum award of $2,500. Merit and demonstrated financial need are considerations. Some are for students graduation from an AISD school, others have restrictions such as attending Baylor University, graduating from Austin High, or not graduating from an AISD high school. Information concerning specific restrictions is available from the Rotary Club of Austin Scholarship Committee. Applications are submitted through each high school’s college or career counselor, and are limited to two for General and one Baylor scholarship.
Automotive, Technical School or Community College Studies
One named scholarship is available to an Austin area graduating high school senior each year planning to study automobile mechanics at a technical school or community college. This scholarship may be renewable for a second year of a two-year program. The application is submitted through each high school’s college or career counselor, and is limited to two.
Scholarship Guidelines
Recipient selection and respective individual award amounts will be based solely on personal integrity, academic achievement, financial need, individual characteristics, and demonstrated good citizenship without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin or course of study. However, no awards will be made to members or employees of the Rotary Club of Austin, or their families.
Each qualified applicant for an award must be a current-year graduate of high school, enroll in an accredited college or university or technical school, and undertake at least twelve (12) semester hours, or equivalent, during each semester or quarter that award benefits are to be received.
Undergraduate/Professional Student Scholarships in Nursing and Pharmacy’
One named scholarship of $1,500 is available to an Austin area college student who is studying Nursing at Austin Community College, Concordia University, or The University of Texas at Austin. The scholarship may continue for a second year. An application is submitted through each institution’s Nursing program counselor/coordinator.
One named scholarship of $1,700 is available to a Pharmacy, Nursing or Medical student each year who is studying at The University of Texas at Austin. This scholarship is restricted to a student who graduated from high school in Goliad, DeWitt, Gonzales, or Caldwell counties. An application is submitted through the appropriate staff member.
