Academic, Freshman College or University Studies

Annually, the Rotary Club of Austin offers a number of scholarships to graduating Austin-area high school seniors. Last year, the Club awarded 22 scholarships, totaling $83,550, with a minimum amount of $3,000. General considerations include students’ merit and demonstrated financial need; and some scholarships specify that student(s) must graduate from an AISD school, while others have restrictions such as: student(s) must attend Baylor University, graduate from Austin High, or graduate from a non-AISD high school.

All applications must be submitted ONLY by each high school’s college or career counselor and will NOT be accepted directly from students. Participating high schools are pre-selected each year by the Club’s scholarship committee, and each high school is limited to a maximum of two applicants for consideration. An exception for an additional submission may be permitted, but only if the third applicant will attend Baylor University.

Automotive, Technical School or Community College Studies

Named scholarship funds are also available to graduating Austin-area high school seniors planning to study automobile mechanics at a technical school or community college. These scholarship awards may be renewable for the second year of a two-year program. Applications must be submitted ONLY by each high school’s college or career counselor and are limited to two per school.

Scholarship Guidelines

Recipient selection and respective individual award amounts will be based solely on personal integrity, academic achievement, financial need, individual characteristics, and demonstrated good citizenship without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin or course of study. However, no awards will be made to members or employees of the Rotary Club of Austin, or their families.

Each qualified applicant for an award must be a current-year high school graduate, enroll in an accredited college or university or technical school, and undertake at least twelve (12) semester hours, or equivalent, during each semester or quarter that award benefits are to be received.
