Program Calendar
The Rotary Club of Austin, in partnership with a few other Austin organizations, regularly supports our troops through Operation Vacation. Operation Vacation is an initiative to support our service men and women at Fort Cavazos through a partnership between the Rotary Club of Austin, Killeen Rotary, County Line Restaurant, Austin Hotel Lodging Association, Killeen Toyota, Around Austin, Super Shuttle, and the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau. Each month, we bring an enlisted soldier and his/ her family or spouse to Austin for a weekend of R&R.
- The host hotel provide a two-night stay (Fri. & Sat.) including room and tax, Parking for their rental car during stay, Friday nite dinner & Breakfast Sat. & Sun. at the host hotel.
- County Line Restaurants covers the cost of the family’s Saturday night meal away from the hotel.
- Killeen Rotary & Killeen Toyota provides spending money and a rental car for the weekend.
- Austin Convention & Visitors, Around Austin, and SuperShuttle provide a gift bag of toys, gifts and attraction tickets for the family.
The Restaurant Association provides for the family’s Saturday night meal away from the hotel. That meal is complimentary including tax and gratuity but not alcoholic beverages. (The family is on their own to pay for alcoholic beverages if they order them.)
Operation Vacation is one of the most rewarding projects. We are grateful to provide this small token of our appreciation to our service people for risking their lives and spending precious time away from their families while they protect our country.
